Blue is our featured colour for design inspiration for July. Those of you who follow us on social media or read our blog, know how much we all love blue at house but Its been over 5 years since I have directly written about decorating with blues to create a calm, relaxing space, so….. here goes.

How does Blue make you feel?
Research shoes that colours influence emotions. For example, soft shades of blue are known to evoke feelings of peace and relaxation making them perfect for warm climate homes. The sky and the sea are natural inspirations so bringing those colours indoors can help create a refreshing escape from the heat.
That wonderful peaceful feeling of walking into a room thats “just right”

When you imagine walking into a room filled with calming refreshing ocean hues, decorating with blue is the natural go to colour story to create a serene atmosphere for our warm climate. Blues not only cool the senses but enhance the beauty of any space and echo the beauty of our surroundings. By incorporating shades of blue into home decor, it is possible to achieve a peaceful, inviting and relaxing environment. Similarly, combining blue with warm tones like sandy beige will create a harmonious blend that is reminiscent of a beach setting. This combination can make spaces feel vibrant yet soothing, perfect for relaxing after a long day in the sun

Blue as the primary colour in a space
Using blue as the primary colour in room design helps to create a calm and tranquil feel. A light blue wall or pastel blue accents can instantly change the mood of a room, making it feel cooler and more pleasant.

Combining blues with neutrals
Blue can also work wonderfully with other colours to create a balanced and inviting space. Pairing blue with white can give a fresh, clean look that reflects coastal styles. For example, adding white furniture or accessories can enhance the brightness of a room while keeping it airy..

Blues in accessories
In addition to paint and furniture, blue can be incorporated through accessories and textiles. Soft blue throw pillows, patterned rugs, or even artwork can add depth and interest to a room. These small touches can make a big difference without overwhelming the overall design. For instance, a navy blue vase filled with white flowers can create a stunning focal point on a coffee table. Such accents allow for easy updates and changes in style, making it simple to keep the décor fresh and engaging.

Decorating with blues offers numerous benefits, from creating a calming environment to enhancing natural light. The versatility of blue allows it to be paired with various colours and styles, making it easy to incorporate into any home By embracing blue in different forms, a tranquil and inviting space is achieved perfect for relaxation. Transforming a home into a cool retreat is just a splash of blue away.
